This morning Bill and I watched and photographed a Lewis's Woodpecker and 3 Acorn woodpeckers in Scottsdale Ranch Park in Scottsdale. All four of the birds were also seen on the morning of Thursday November 23.
The Lewis's Woodpecker was very busy collecting acorns from oak trees and then carrying them to palm trees by the volley ball courts for storage in holes that it had made. The bird was also seen carrying acorns across Via Linda to palm trees south of the road.
The three Acorn Woodpeckers were also busy collecting acorns, calling, and moving about the various trees in the park.
On Nov 23 a Plumbeous Vireo was seen in pine trees near Ramada 10. It was previously seen in the same area on October 15 and might be the same bird that wintered in the park last year.
