This is a report for the Tucson Audubon Society field trip to the Arivaca Cienega. Highlights were the very cooperative Merlin and Green Tailed Towhee.Six people made the walk around the Cienega in very nice weather. We had a total of 33 species but the Towhees very the show birds for the day. The Green tailed perched up for us and gave us all good looks for a couple of minutes. Even a spotted towhee showed up out of the tangle of sunflowers for a good look, maybe on his way to higher territory. The Merlin (my personal totem bird) perched and allowed us a nice scope view.
So come and join us every Saturday at 8 am until the end of April for the Walks.
Thanks Rob Rutledge (Merlin) Green Valley, AZ
