Subject: [OrangeCountyBirding] Nazca(?) Booby in Newport Harbor
An apparent Nazca Booby was photographed sitting on the Thunderbird
sportfishing boat earlier this evening (11/18) while it was docked in
Newport Harbor. Unfortunately the boat left at 9pm per its typical
schedule, and one way or another the bird could not be located anywhere on
the docks in this vicinity at about 9:15 tonight, although this was of
course in darkness. It would probably be good to search for the bird in the
morning in case it is still somewhere in the harbor, for those interested.

The Thunderbird docks in this vicinity, though of course it would be
beneficial to search all over as the bird could have landed on any other
boat (assuming it stayed in the harbor).

Here are a few photos of the bird taken this evening by Jeffery Markland
while the boat was docked in the harbor:

Assuming this is correctly identified as a Nazca Booby and is accepted by
the CBRC, it would be Orange County's first record and its 488th countable

Should anybody refind the bird please repost to this listserv or call or
email Jeff or me asap and we can share.
