During a Joppa Flats Education Center function on Cape Ann this morning, we found at a distance from the Jodrey Fish Pier a Glaucous Gull. It appeared to be a “paler juvenile” — white primaries, beige barring on scapulars & coverts, & a stout bicolored bill (proximally pink, distally black). From the pier, it was seen loafing on the grass-covered roof of the large warehouse type building in distance (1 or 1:30 from pier) along with many gulls - some black-backs, mostly Herring Gulls. Its overall “whiteness” really stood out in the crowd!
