Subject: Lake Carl Blackwell Western Grebe
I scoped Lake Carl Blackwell from the dam this morning. There were not as
many ducks there as last week, but I did get my first Common Goldeneyes of
the winter. Also, amid a large raft of Franklin's Gulls, I found a Western
Grebe, which is a fairly uncommon find for Payne County.
The gulls/grebe were a long way out from the dam and were actually closer
to Ski Point, which is part of the Lake Carl Blackwell park and requires an
admission fee to access.
