Turned up a Cape May and magnolia warbler at two ends of coastal Scituate on Friday, as well as a gnatcatcher that pished in to 7 feet from my face. All tucked out of the wind and handsome in the bright morning light. Up-island Martha's Vineyard highlights on Saturday included a white-eyed vireo, a yellow-breasted chat, and a house wren. In Truro there was a handsome late yellow-throated vireo on Sunday. Not quite up to what the Pocheteers found in one day two weeks ago, but fine birding. Away from the thickets, a white-rumped sandpiper at Great Sandy Bottom Pond in Pembroke was probably the biggest surprise.
