Listen up as ‘earbirding’ expert and author Nathan Pieplow shares and interprets some of his best audio from over a decade of recording birds in the field. Pieplow also introduces us to the system he devised to help identify bird sounds without having to memorize them. The sounds of birds are a language, carrying messages from one bird to another. To understand the language, and decode the messages, all you need is the right dictionary! A book signing for the new Peterson Field Guide to Bird Sounds of Eastern North America follows the program.
Co-sponsored by PEM. This program is made possible by a generous gift from Tim and Joanie Ingraham in memory of Dorothy Addams Brown, beloved honorary PEM trustee and devoted ECOC member.
Morse Auditorium, Peabody Essex Museum. Free and open to the public.
