Observation start time: 09:00:00 Observation end time: 15:30:00 Total observation time: 6.5 hours
Official Counter: Ken Klapper
Observers: Amanda Kallenbach, Crawford Lyons, Mark Timmerman, Maureen Joyce
Weather: Cool - upper 30s to upper 40s, with a light NE to NNW wind... but lots of sun - clouds to the south in the morning gave way to nearly clear skies.
Raptor Observations: A bit of a continuing push of buteos and Bald Eagles, plus a few small accipiters.
Non-raptor Observations: Eight SANDHILL CRANES were seen at 9:20am, south of the orchard, flying WSW. Other interesting sightings include 14 Mallards, about 100 American Crows (including a group of 64), five Eastern Bluebirds, a single Common Grackle, numerous Goldfinch, and a Purple Finch.
Predictions: Light SSE winds, and increasing clouds in the afternoon. If the winds aren't too heavy, we should see a few migrants. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Ken Klapper (<kklapper...>) Carter Hill Observatory information may be found at: www.nhaudubon.org
