Subject: Baker Wetlands Survey
Baker Wetlands, Lawrence Kansas.  November 5,2017
Total species 73, Start 7:30AM 5 hr.  Drove 15 miles. Participants: R. Boyd, S. Kimball, K. Sharp, Lisa Ball, Logan Grose.   Started at 50 deg, overcast, mist turning to rain until about 9:00. Wind up to about 15+ out of north.
Previous surveys early Nov.: 2016 = 70; 2015 = 75; 2014 = 63; 2013 = 35; 2012 = 50; 2011 = 41; 2010 = 40. We didn't start including the entire area until 2014.

Unusual birds today: Canvasback, Amer. Woodcock, Bonaparte's Gull, Short-eared Owl, American Pipits, and Smith's Longspur.
High Red-tailed Hawks seemed to be due to a number flying over at high elevation and heading straight south, pretty much the same as the Snow Geese.
Site below shows complete count.
