We’ve seen 71 species from our deck over the past week. The list includes 14 waterfowl species including 2 Canvasback on Oct. 29, 150 Ring-necks on Oct. 31, 63 Lesser Scaup on Nov. 3, our FOS Bufflehead on Nov. 3, and our FOS Hooded Mergansers on Oct. 29. We also had our FOS Common Loons on Oct 29 and our FOS Horned Grebe on Nov. 4. Five Bald Eagles were present today, including 3 adults, a juv. and a 3rd-basic. Shorebird habitat is slowly disappearing with the rains; of the 5 species, Killdeer and Dunlin were most consistent with 32 of the latter on Nov. 1. We saw our last Tree Swallows on Nov. 3, had Brown Creeper on Oct. 29. (FOS from yard) and 2 Golden-cr. Kinglets today (our FOS from the yard). A male Rose-breasted Grosbeak that appeared on Oct. 29 remained through Nov. 3. Pine Siskin numbers have been building over the past week as we counted 53 at the feeders today.
