I was walking North Beach of Seabrook Island at around 4:30pm and saw a Purple Sandpiper loosely associating with a small group of Sanderlings. I know - what is a PUSA doing hanging out on a sandy beach with no rocks?
It had a two tone bill, orange legs, and was stocky like a sanderling, but slightly larger. It had streaking on the side below the wings, a white belly and grey chest. The head was slightly darker grey.
I got incredibly poor photos.
Anyway, keep an eye out on those beaches.
