_*Important Update*_, due to lack of maintenance on Lambert Road on the
east side or Bedford county side, anyone who has a low vehicle might
have some issues.  here are 2 alternative options given to me by Bob

Other driving directions from the east:

Alternate Route Option A - From Schellsburg take route 96 North.
Continue to just before New Paris then turn left on Hoover Road. Proceed
a very short distance (100 yards) then turn right onto Shaffer Mountain
Road. This travels up the mountain for several miles.  After cresting
the mountain (maybe a mile from the crest) there will be a Y
intersection. Take a left onto Fleegle Road.  Proceed (maybe 2-3 miles)
to the next intersection. Turn left onto Lambert Mountain Road. There
will be Daley Cemetery immediately on your right. Continue up the hill
about  0.5 miles. Turn right at the hawk watch sign at the blue gate and
proceed to the parking area.

Alternate Route Option B - From Schellsburg take Route 30 West.
Continue on Route 30 up the mountain going through a switch-back curve.
Near the crest (after passing the site of the former Ship Hotel on the
right), turn right onto Fleegle Road.  Continue on the road (unsure of
distance maybe 3-5 miles) to stop sign at Daley. Turn right onto Lambert
Mountain Road, proceed immediately past Daley cemetery on your right.
Continue up the dirt road for about 0.5 miles to Allegheny Front Hawk
Watch sign. Proceed through blue gate to parking area.

Option B is also the easiest directions from the west.

For those people who have never been there, there is a portipotty on
premises. Bring a lawnchair, bins, scope, camera, etc.  It is a level
walk from the parking area to viewing areas and you aren't far from the
vehicles either.   Certainly bring some rain gear along and layers as
being on the top of a mt can always be cooler than you think.  Sunscreen
is always a good idea as well.
