Observation start time: 08:15:00 Observation end time: 16:00:00 Total observation time: 7.75 hours
Official Counter: Ken Klapper
Observers: Jen Frost
Visitors: Ten, including Hoosiers and a Washintonian (i.e. a DC'er)
Weather: Cool and cloudy, with a light variable to SE breeze, temps from 35 to 50F, but it certainly felt chilly after all the recent mild weather.
Raptor Observations: Just over a score of migrant raptors, mostly sharpies, but with a smattering of Red-shoulders and a couple Harriers, a Coops and a Merlin. There were several local Red-tails, TVs, and an adult Bald Eagle as well, plus another Coops or two.
Non-raptor Observations: Highlights include Common Loon - 1, BRANT - 28, Canada Goose - 35, Shorebird Sp - 2, E. Bluebird - 2, Hermit Thrush - 1, Cedar Waxwing - 130. Flocks of robins poured down the Contoocook valley at the end of the day - close to a grand were counted between 4:30 and 5:00 pm.
Predictions: A bit warmer, cloudy, with light south winds. If the air is not too heavy, there might be some movement. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Ken Klapper (<kklapper...>) Carter Hill Observatory information may be found at: www.nhaudubon.org
