Subject: [Va-bird] Great Falls NP Bird Walk 10/29/2017 (Fairfax County)

Following is the count from Sunday's weekly bird walk at Great Falls National Park, which identified 28 species and included 3 participants.  Worthy of particular note were several flocks of cedar waxwings, a few hermit thrushes, and some white-throated sparrows.  Although the rain held off and the birds were active, the overcast conditions and associated lighting at times made for challenging viewing.
The walk meets on Sunday mornings at 8:00 a.m. in front of the snack bar/concession stand of the Great Falls Park visitors' center.  All birders are welcome!
