Observation start time: 08:00:00 Observation end time: 12:00:00 Total observation time: 4 hours
Official Counter: John Mercer
Visitors: Doug Hill and Jenni Englund came by to practice for a gig and supplied some lovely music for a little while.
Weather: Started cloudy and cool and moved to misty, then drizzly and cool with wind from an easterly direction. With mist and drizzle blowing into my face, I had to spend most of the day looking West catching birds as they flew away.
Raptor Observations: It should have been a poor day, but it wasn't too bad, especially at mid-day, for some reason birds were moving. A Juvenile Bald Eagle and an Osprey passed by together at 12:58 EDT.
Non-raptor Observations: Monarchs were still moving, even in the rain. Counted 138. One Common Loon flew by fairly low
Predictions: Mostly cloudy with possible showers midday, highs in the mid-60's. Winds mostly from the east, so not a promising day although today was better than expected. ======================================================================== Report submitted by John Mercer (<mercer1135...>) Rose Tree Park information may be found at: www.rtphawkwatch.org
