Subject: Baker Wetlands Survey
Roger Boyd, Scott Kimball, Kylee Sharp, Nick Pumphrey, and Eric Kilburg surveyed Baker Wetlands, Lawrence, Kansas on Sunday, October 8, 2017. They found 77 species.  Previous counts in late Sept/Oct. 2016 = 67; 2015 = 64; 2014 = 53; 2013 = 39; 2012 = 47; 2011 = 34; 2010 = 51; 2009 = 39  Surveys 2013 and earlier were restricted to Tract A & B west of Louisiana St.They had high counts on Pb Grebe = 116; Dc Cormorant = 271; Sora = 15; Coot = 454; Marsh Wren = 13; and Nashville Warbler = 8.
Ebird wanted more information on Snowy Egret, Semipalmated Sandpiper, and Blue Grosbeak.
Duck species started to show up.
Sparrow species started to show up also.
Flickers seem to be migrating through.
Blue-headed Vireos are always fun to see during migration.The complete count is at the site below
