On 9/11/17 I thought I may have seen two Common Ravens flying across the street. They landed in a snag. What alerted me was the croaking call. I watched them soar and thought they seemed larger than crows. They were too high for me to see their tails.
Today I heard the same call and a single one flew right above me and I did notice the distinct wedge shaped tail. Not far from the snag is a quarry and there is plenty of deer (and other) carrion in the ag fields immediately adjacent.
