Subject: [obol] Siskins! Not extinct
I birded along the coast from Neskowin to Newport yesterday. I am happy to report that Pine Siskins have yet again roared back from another one of their periodic near extinctions in Oregon. It is astonishing that a bird can be so utterly ubiquitous one year and completely absent the next. Siskins were everywhere in large flocks yesterday. Red Crossbills were also in abundance. Hoped for vagrant passerines were not.
