Subject: [CT Birds] LPP Friday
Not the best conditions for migration with light and variable winds. At
least there was cloud cover so we could find the ones that tried it. 45
raptors were counted: 20 Turkey Vultures, 3 Osprey, 1 juvie Bald Eagle, 4
Sharp-shinned Hawks, 6 Cooper's Hawks, 1 Red-shouldered Hawk, 1 Red-tailed
Hawk, 5 American Kestrels, 3 Merlins, 1 Unidentified Accipiter.
Also migrating: 62 House Finches, 41 Warbler sp., 145 Cedar Waxwings, 260
Blue Jays, 4 American Robins, 14 Canada Geese, 1 Dickcissel, 4 Purple
Finches.
In the park: Palm Warbler click, Mourning Dove, Carolina Wren, Blue Jay,
Common Grackle, American Robin, 2 flyover Yellowlegs, Northern Mockingbird,
Song Sparrow, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Mallard, Northern Flicker, Eur.
Starling, Eastern Phoebe, Downey Woodpecker, Rock Pigeon.
