Subject: [OrangeCountyBirding] Highlights of Oct. 6 San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary Count
Highlights of this morning’s (Oct. 6) monthly count at San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary Count included:

1 adult male Vermillion Flycatcher along the north side of Pond 1 at 8 a.m. Not sure where he flew off to, as he was not seen by any group after that.

The partially leucistic Curve-billed Thrasher was seen by a number of groups this morning, mostly at its usual location at the corner of Ponds A and 1; but it was also seen where the trails meet at Ponds 1, 2, and 3 in a brushy “island” in between the trails. It was performing at the top of a bare branch there.

One Cattle Egret flying up (north) the San Diego Creek.

A group of 25 Ring-necked Ducks on Pond 1, along with 71 White Pelicans on Pond 1’s island. Pond 1’s count totaled 47 species.
