Subject: [MDBirding] Lincoln Monument birds, 10/5
During a lunchtime walk around the Tidal Basin and Constitution Gardens, I found the following highlights:
Tidal Basin
(2) Caspian terns and (2) Laughing gulls as well as a Herring Gull, several Ring-billed gulls, Double-crested cormorants, Canada geese and Mallards
Lincoln Monument
A Red-tailed Hawk hunting and flying about in the trees around the Monument
DC Veteran's Memorial
Many Bluejays and a few Yellow-rumped warblers
Constitution Gardens
Several Northern Shovellers (some males coming out of eclipse plumage), a Blue-winged Teal (ditto), and a American Wigeon, among the Canada geese and Mallards
