During an unsuccessful search for the pelican in the Castle Island/Pleasure Bay loop around noon today, I observed a gull that looked like a non-breeding adult Laughing Gull, except that it seemed a bit too small. It circled Pleasure Bay several times, showing the following markings: dark gray back and upper wings, merging with black wing tips with no noticeable or prominent white spots; white tail; prominent “headphones” at back of head; dark legs and dark reddish-black bill (black mixed unevenly with dark red).
Also present were an Osprey, a Gt Blue Heron sharing space with a large group of D-cr Cormorants, the three main white-headed gulls, and some Common Loons.
