4 rusty blackbirds on the mudflats as originally reported by Carol Freeman. 3 green-winged teal. One late spotted sandpiper. Otherwise the expected occupants. Migration is on, if you enjoy it, stay until nightfall and you won't be disappointed. Trail at the south end of the basin, off the parking lot spur. It didn't hurt that there was a spectacular pink sunset and a hazy white moon glinting through the browning leaves of the cottonwood trees.
Also 3 black-crowned night herons flew by right on schedule as night fell.
