> Comments: Regular Chicago Audubon fall bird walk at this location. Birding the last three weeks has been slow but something interesting always appears. At the end of the walk, the species count was 29 but some of us couldn't stop birding on the way to the parking lot and we found 2 more.
> 30 species (+1 other taxa)
> Canada Goose X
> Wood Duck X
> Great Blue Heron X
> Red-tailed Hawk X
> Chimney Swift X
> Red-bellied Woodpecker X
> Yellow-bellied Sapsucker X
> Downy Woodpecker X
> Northern Flicker X
> flycatcher sp. (Tyrannidae sp.) X this was near the end of the walk. A few of us had quick glimpses of something that appeared to be a type of flycatcher in a bushy area with bad lighting. I had the longest look and knew I was looking at something very different from the other birds we had already seen. I felt pretty sure it was a Great Crested but only saw the back & it was not calling.
> Warbling Vireo X didn't see it but clearly heard it on way to parking lot. There had been a lot of these here in previous weeks and so I and at least two others knew the sound.
> Blue Jay X
> Black-capped Chickadee X
> White-breasted Nuthatch X
> Brown Creeper X
> Ruby-crowned Kinglet X
> Gray-cheeked Thrush X
> Swainson's Thrush X
> Hermit Thrush X
> American Robin X
> Northern Waterthrush X
> Common Yellowthroat X
> American Redstart X
> Blackburnian Warbler X Female bird. My ID based on the brown-ness of the wings and back, including top of head through the back. Also small streaks on wings instead of clear bars. Finally, despite streaking on the sides, the underside was very pale to white without the blush that a bay-breasted usually has. Had Sibley and Kaufmann field guides with me for help.
> Yellow-rumped Warbler X
> White-crowned Sparrow X
> Scarlet Tanager X
> Northern Cardinal X
> Common Grackle X
> American Goldfinch X
> House Sparrow X
