This tree was a notable draw for flycatchers during the rare bird roundup on Saturday, but was quiet when many of us visited that PM. This morning it was active again, as Western Wood-Pewee, Willow, Hammond's, and Pac-slope Flycatchers were all present. All three empid species were calling, and there may have been other individuals and species as well, as they were very actively hawking bugs while moving around the tall tree and into other trees nearby.
The location is in the Presidio, south of the intersection of Kobbe and Upton. The actual street is labeled Wisser on Presidio maps, and is between Hitchcock and the Wright Loop. The tree is an ivy-covered dying pine next to the portable toilet in the community garden.
The Gr Wh-fr Goose found by Russ yesterday was with Canada Geese on the Polo Field in GG Park around 10 AM. Brian Fitch
