This time last year, the large pond at Fisher Meadows was basically one giant mud flat, inviting an impressive array of shorebirds during fall migration. I checked it out this afternoon and found some mud, but not nearly as much as last year. Five at least sandpipers were the highlight there. Later on, as night approached about 10 Common nighthawks graced the skies above. Sadly, it's getting a touch late for them.
