Subject: [ia-bird] Hitchcock Hawkwatch week of Sept. 5-12
Greetings all,

After a great start to the season with cool weather and NW winds to help, it
changed on the 7th with winds from the south and low numbers of migrating
raptors except turkey vultures. There are some notable exceptions. A
surprising number of early bald eagles and broad-winged hawks and we had our
first Mississippi Kite.

Season totals so far:

Turkey Vulture-285

Osprey-27

Bald Eagle-28

Northern Harrier-4

Sharp-shinned Hawk-28

Cooper's Hawk-51

Broad-winged Hawk-27

Red-tailed Hawk-37

Swainson's Hawk-1

American Kestrel-7

Merlin-5

Peregrine Falcon-2

Mississippi Kite-1

Unknown buteo-2

Total-505
