Not sure if anyone brought it up yet, but the Playa Lakes Joint Venture
has really handy maps of where 'probable' playa lakes occur in parts of
Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
I've utilized these in wetter years and had some decent success in
finding migratory birds-- of course, sometimes you find a playa has been
farmed over... but still a fun way to backroad bird in western KS.
