Subject: [Tweeters] CURLEW SANDPIPER and WHITE-WINGED DOVE near Vancouver, BC on September 10

On September 10, an adult CURLEW SANDPIPER in faded breeding plumage was
seen and photographed at about 11:30 AM at the Reifel Bird Sanctuary in
Delta. Also on the 10th, a WHITE-WINGED DOVE, the second ever for the
Vancouver area, was found in late morning at Terra Nova Park on Lulu Island,
Richmond, BC, and remained through late afternoon. This bird was reported
to have been present there for at least 3 or 4 days by non-birders who
frequently visit the park.

I would predict that there is a good chance of the dove still being there
tomorrow, and a fair chance for the Curlew Sandpiper.

For further information about these two rarities, including directions to
the dove location, please check the BC Rare Bird Alert page at this address: .

Good luck to anyone who decides to look for either of these birds!
