The No Trespassing signs are not just a matter of defending against trespassers who are injured. In the last year, while scoping above the railroad tracks in Edmonds, I was approached by an Edmonds police officer who asked if I had seen any people on the tracks. I was scoping at a point where many people cross the tracks to get to the beach. I had not seen anyone and asked the officer why he was asking. A BNSF engineer had called in a complaint to 911. So BNSF can be aggressive. I'm sure the engineers do not want to see anyone killed. That said, it is a 10 second sprint across the tracks to the path along the Alon fence leading to the beach. The path down to the tracks is dirt with several concrete blocks placed in it by locals as steps. For those who have yet to go to Point Wells, just be sure that a train is not coming when you make that quick sprint. Good luck on getting great views of this mega-rarity.
