Good to see this report of a Vesper Sparrow at Luckiamute State Natural Area. There used to be a nesting population there, up into the early 2000s. Maybe there are still a few nesting in the neighborhood, though at this point it could be a migrant.
The AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER continues this morning at Mallard Marsh, then Pintail Marsh at Ankeny NWR. There are good numbers of shorebirds about including both yellowlegs, Western & Least Sandpiper, Long-billed Dowitcher, Wilson's Snipe & Killdeer.
Just south of the Buena Vista Ferry at the first Luckiamute River wayside I found a VESPER SPARROW.
At the Philomath Sewage Ponds there were 2 BAIRD'S and 1 PECTORAL SANDPIPER along with Least, Western, Spotted and 5 RED-NECKED PHALAROPE.
