Subject: [Va-bird] Dyke Marsh Wildlife Preserve - Fairfax County
Eight birders walked Dyke Marsh this morning, with lovely weather following yesterday's steady all-day rain. While we did not have the large number of species seen on Sunday's walk here, we had a nice assortment. Highlights were a Cooper's Hawk circling at the end of the boardwalk, large numbers of Great Egrets gathering for migration, a tern trifecta rounded out by a couple Black Terns over the hydrilla mats on the river, and several Lesser Yellowlegs foraging on the mats.
