Subject: [MASSBIRD] WMB northern warbler & nighthawk influx
Hi MassBirders,

Posts on the Western Mass Birders group in FaceBook indicate a migratory push of warblers from the north, mostly through Berkshire County. Reports include a Connecticut Warbler from Bennett Meadows in Northfield on Sunday, by Jeremy Coleman; Monday morning, a Bay-breasted and two Tennessees at Pleasant Valley MAS by Jonathan Pierce, and another Connecticut plus an Olive-sided Flycatcher at Springside Park in Pittsfield by Gael Hurley and Joe Oliverio; Monday evening, two Cape Mays at the October Mountain marsh by Jonathan and Joe; and a Wilson’s this morning at Springside by Rene Wendell and Jonathan (who tried without luck to relocate the previous day’s CT).

There apparently was also another surge of nighthawks, with 91 yesterday over Longmeadow (Lois & Al Richardson), 31 over Pittsfield (Gael Hurley), an unspecified number over Arcadia MAS (along with a Sora and 125!!! Bobolinks in the grasslands), and a dozen over Petersham the day before (Bill Borque).

Good birding,

Josh
