Subject: AAS- CCWA Field Trip 8/27/17

It was a good birding day at the Clayton Co. Water Authority yesterday. 34 birders started at the Newman Wetlands Center, then to the Huie Ponds, then to the Blalock & Shamrock reservoirs. What a good feeling to be back on the Huie ponds! Remember that they are now open only on Sat-Sun 7am-1pm until November when the schedule changes and a fee permit is required.
We ended the morning with 59 species, including great looks at 3 Limpkin at Blalock (reminder that Blalock and Shamrock reservoirs are closed on Mon-Tue).
Following is the trip list for all three areas combined. I didn’t list individual bird numbers except for most of the migrants. There are several e-bird reports, broken out by area.

Huie: waterfowl, shorebirds, etc.
Wetlands Center: warblers, songbirds
Blalock: Limpkins, wading birds, raptors
