Decided to head north today into Lake County in search of shorebirds; myself and Carl Giometti checked a bunch of locations from the lakefront to inland fluddles and ended up having one of them days where it seemed like a struggle to find any major highlights! Baird’s Sandpiper probably the best of the small bunch!

Highlights from each location below:

Waukegan Beach - Nothing! except one Spotted Sandpiper

Illinois Beach SP South Unit - 2 Sanderling, 1 Semipalmated Plover, Blackburnian Warbler, Magnolia Warbler

Townline Rd W Aleghany Fluddle, Grayslake - 2 Baird’s Sandpiper, 1 Wilson’s Snipe and at least a decent mix of shorebirds (10 species) to search through.

Atkinson Rd Fluddle, Grayslake - 40+ Bobolink in sedges at edge of fluddle.

Almond Marsh, Grayslake - Ring-necked Duck (1f)

Techny Basin, Glenview (Cook Co) - Good numbers of Peeps among 8 shorebird species.
