*Changes to the National Park Service Lifetime Senior Pass* /Note: This email is being sent by the City of Salem as a courtesy to the National Park Service./ Next Monday, August 28, 2017, the price of the /America the Beautiful – The National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Lifetime Senior Pass/ will increase from $10 to $80 as established by the U.S. Congress on December 16, 2016. US citizens or permanent residents 62 years or older are eligible for the Senior Pass. The nearest National Park Site for Salem residents to obtain a pass in-person before the price increase takes effect is the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge in Newburyport: https://www.fws.gov/refuge/parker_river <https://www.fws.gov/refuge/parker_river.>. Seniors are strongly encouraged to call or email ahead to ensure passes are available since supplies are limited: (978) 465-5753 or <parkerriver...> <mailto:<parkerriver...>. Please note that the Salem Maritime & Saugus Iron Works National Historic Sites do not charge admission, therefore, they _do not sell_ the Senior Pass. Seniors also have the option of purchasing a lifetime pass online at https://store.usgs.gov/senior-pass. An additional $10 processing fee will be added to the price for passes purchased online. Additionally, annual Senior Passes are available for $20. Annual passes are valid for one year from the date of issuance. Four annual Senior Passes purchased in prior years can be traded in for a lifetime pass. Please note that access to the majority of National Park Service sites <https://www.nps.gov/planyourvisit/fee-free-parks-state.htm> remains free, including the Salem Maritime & Saugus Iron Works Historic Sites.
