Date: 8/12/17 8:28 pm From: Bird observations from western New York <geneseebirds-l...> Subject: [GeneseeBirds-L] Hamlin - Buff-breasted Sandpiper, Black Terns
This evening there was a Buff-breasted Sandpiper in a recently plowed field in Hamlin, NY. It was initially on the west side of Wiler Road, which extends south from Brick Schoolhouse Road, south of the first house on the west side. It was closely associating with three Black-bellied Plovers - after a short while all four flew to plowed field on the east side of the road. Parts of the east field are also visible looking south from Brick Schoolhouse Road. The fields also contained good numbers of Killdeer and one Pectoral Sandpiper.
Earlier there were two Black Terns foraging offshore at Hamlin Beach.
