Subject: [ia-bird] Shorebirding at Hawkeye WMA (Johnson Co.)
Shorebird numbers have halved with recent north winds but diversity was up a little today even though the Pecs
still overwhelm the mud flats. Backwaters have dried and today may well have been the last of Greencastle Avenue's
shorebirding on its west side but the main pool's north and south shores remain reliable for scoping.

1 American Avocet (Very distant scoping west at James Ave. overlook.)
2 Sanderlings (Nearest James Ave. overlook)
2 Black-bellied Plovers (Scoped from James Ave. overlook.)
1 Juv. Red-necked Phalarope (East side Greencastle Ave.)
1 Wilson's Phalarope (Sand Point's shoreline)
60 Great Egrets (James Ave. pond)
