Second try on sending:

Hi, birders,

Thirteen folks trudged around the Sierra Vista EOP dikes in the bright sun
and heat this morning, including visitors from Alaska, Germany, and New
Mexico. The group tally was 66 species at morning's end.

No bitterns were seen today, but not for lacking of looking. Heavy rain
over the past week created some new shallow habitat where we found the
expected Killdeer joined by Least Sandpiper, Spotted Sandpiper, and
Wilson's Phalarope.

A good mix of swallows of six species were seen throughout the morning. A
Lesser Nighthawk cruised through. Cassin's Sparrows were particularly
vocal, declaring the monsoon breeding season. The most abundant migrants
were 40 + Lazuli Buntings, mostly males. Two different impoundments with
grasses and weeds hosted these birds, along with Lesser Goldfinches, House
Finches, and a mixture of blackbirds.

Cheers, Erika Wilson
