Subject: [SFBirds] Masked Booby
Hi Birders,
Acting as the messenger here. Christian Schwarz reports that a Shearwater Journeys pelagic trip just had a subadult Masked Booby (yes, they believe Masked rather than Nazca) in flight "straight out west from the auklet spot", aka Land's End. The bird was close enough to land that it could potentially be seen by land-based observers if it continued inshore on its last known flight path.
Birders looking for the Parakeet Auklet, or seawatching at Sutro Baths today should keep an eye out for this bird. Who knows, maybe it will take a seat on Mile Rock or Seal Rocks at some point.
Good luck!
