Walking the north unit trail out of the parking lot and to the left, a little before the trail turns right to the north, we encountered at least 10 Eastern Kingbirds in a dead tree. A few more seemed to be flying about.

Other birds out there - (heard only) marsh wren, field Sparrow, Song Sparrow, Common Yellow-throat. (Seen) Barn Swallows, Goldfinch, Ring-billed Gull, Red-winged blackbird, Scarlet Tanager (female), Black-capped chickadee, Great- Crested flycatcher (south unit near nature center),

Willow and Least flycatchers, an unidentified flycatcher, Northern Flicker, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker.

Note that the Dead River trail is blocked halfway through by high water.j
