LOTS of shorebirds at Big Island (Marion County) I am in the middle of a project at home, but Cam Lee and Ron Sempier report:
"...there are hundreds of shorebirds at big island. The east side near the back is the best area. Best birds of the day were Baird's and Western Sandpipers and a Wilson's phalarope." (Texts condensed for simplicity.)
The pond is the East pond on LaRue Prospect. It has been drained to encourage vegetation...and will not be filled in time for Teal Season...so looks like we might have some good shorebird activity.
