Another errand gave me the chance to check the puddle on the south side of Branning Road at its T-intersection with Homestead Road (16:00-16:30). A fair variety of shorebirds were present, including a STILT SANDPIPER, a worn adult but with still obvious bold barring throughout the flanks and a dark cap highlighting the bright supercilium. With it were Killdeer, Lesser Yellowlegs (10), Semipalmated Sandpiper (5), Least Sandpiper (8), and Pectoral Sandpiper (6).
The nearby and nearly dry Amber Road puddle this afternoon netted only Killdeer.
