Subject: [ia-bird] Hummingbird skirmish
Yesterday I watched a hummingbird attack a female oriole who was sitting near her nest. The hummer was actually poking her breast with his pointy beak. She made a few feeble defensive moves. Finally the male oriole arrived and escorted her to safety. Is this common behavior for hummers?
