Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday July 13. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at
A male and a female ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK are now coming to a feeder near
Port Orford. A LUCY'S WARBLER was reported July 7 in Manzanita.
Shorebirds migrations are now well underway. On July 6 a PACIFIC
GOLDEN-PLOVER was at New River. A MARBLED GODWIT was seen July 7 at Bandon.
That day a WHIMBREL and a MARBLED GODWIT were among many shorebirds at Fern
Ridge Reservoir. On July 8 a SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER was at Bandon Marsh. Two
were south of Florence July 10.
A LONG-TAILED DUCK in heavy molt is now at Alsea Bay along with three SURF
SCOTERS and a WHITE-WINGED SCOTER also in heavy molt. On July 12 an adult
HEERMANN'S GULL was at the Philomath Sewage Ponds.
