Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday July 6. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at
On July 1 a loudly calling LEAST FLYCATCHER was along Fred Ashly Road near
Tygh Valley. A VEERY was seen July 5 at the Sandy River Delta east of
Portland. A male ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was reported July 5 in Eugene. A
probable BLACK DUCK was reported July 1 at Malheur NWR.
On July 3 a FRANKLIN'S GULL at Brookings. A WILLET was seen June 30 at
Flores Lake. On June 29 a SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER was at Oregon Dunes south
of Florence. A flock of 21 WHIMBREL were at Yaquina Bay June 30. A MEW GULL
was there July 2.
A probable nest pair of EASTERN KINGBIRDS continue at Steigerwald NWR. On
July 1 a SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER was at Jackson Bottom in Hillsboro. A
RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was reported July 3 at Oaks Bottom in Portland. On July
5 a SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER was at Duckflat Road near Marion.
A pair of CATBIRDS are nesting this summer at Lake Creek Lodge near Camp
Sherman. On July 2 an adult BAIRD'S SANDPIPER was along Hotchkiss Lane near
Burns. GREAT-TAILED GRACKLES are now nesting at the headquarters of Summer
Lake Wildlife Area.
