Jamie Simmons reported to OBOL and LCBNO that he and Jim Anderson had
seen a chat on June 4 in the Logsden area (see Jamie's email and eBird
checklist with link to map as well as comments about chats in Lincoln
Co. in emails below the June 25 report).

On June 25, Chris Hinkle also had the following eBird report of one
about 1/2 mile from Jamie's report. It is unknown if they saw the
same chat. At least one was south east of Logsden on 6/27/2013
(Brandon Wagner, Doug Robinson
[]) and near Logsden
and Moonshine Park Road on at least 6/12,14, and 7/3 in 2015 (Bob
Llewellyn) (see list of summer sightings in email below Chris's eBird

- Comments: "Singing loudly. Heard when I pulled off the road to let a
car pass. Will upload recording. Ebird pin is in the exact location.
This is 1/2 a mile from where one was found by Jamie Simmons a couple
of weeks ago, so probably the same bird that relocated a little ways."

Yellow-breasted Chats in Lincoln County have occasionally been found
during May 20-July 3 at inland and coastal locations. Records from
the Yaquina Birders & Naturalists newsletter and eBird include a
5/27/1941 record of one collected near Burnt Woods; a 6/1/1996 male
near Newport Reservoir (Steve Gobat), and a 6/3-4/1996 one calling as
if on a nesting territory in Toledo (Darrel Faxon) that was seen the
next day (Chuck Philo). In 2002 at the Savage Road/Three Rocks Road
junction near Cascade Head, there was one on 5/20 & 24 (Phil
Pickering) and 5/26 (Jamie Simmons), and one was also at D River in
Lincoln City on 5/27 (Phil Pickering). In 2012, one was in Toledo
during 6/17-27/2012 (Chuck Philo and others, and in 2013, one was
southeast of Logsden on 6/27/2013 (Brandon Wagner, Doug Robinson In 2015, at least
one was in the Fall Creek area of southeast Lincoln County on 5/26 and
5/28 (Doug Robinson, Deb Holland, and near Logsden on
at least 6/12,14, and 7/3 (Bob Llewellyn). A probable one was also
near Lincoln City on 6/21/2015 (Darrel Faxon).
