I'm seeing lots of reports of Dickcissels in Minnesota and Wisconsin--they're having an apparent irruption year. I read a paper that said one cause of these irruptions could be early droughts in the core of their breeding range (including Arkansas). Has anyone noticed less-than-average Dickcissels as the summer season has progressed? I see plenty of them out at Chesney Prairie in Benton County (one of my research sites), but I don't know how that compares to a normal year.
