Got up very early and headed to Mix Canyon (off Pleasants Valley Rd in Vacaville) to drive to the top Blue Ridge Rd. It was cold and the clouds soon lifted. Got pictures of the usual birds there: many singing California Thrashers, Wrentits, Spotted Towhees, and several Blue-gray Gnatcatchers. Had small flights of migrants: thrushes and warblers. fos Ash-throated Flycatchers. Once it warmed up there were many hummingbirds (lots of flowers up there) including a male COSTA'S HUMMINGBIRD! But missed the photo. Dipped on the Bell's Sparrow.
Then headed to the private wildlife sanctuary marsh along Leisure Town Rd x Allendale Rd next to Hwy 505. Saw the continuing SOLITARY SANDPIPER along with Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs (which was also a county bird.) This little marsh is fantastic and was in my breeding bird atlas area.
Warning- Mix Canyon Rd is very steep, narrow and winding. Be Careful.
