Tonight was one of those magic moments after a thunderstorm went through and twilight held an expectant hush. For some reason the appointed hour is 8:10p.m. when the newly arrived Whippoorwill s break the silence, throbbing their song down over the ridge onto Heisey Road.
They have once again completed their journey back from the South. Seeing some nightjars just last week in Central America, I ponder the miracle of life's cycles!
